The German Art Fund in Hungary initiated by Art Market Budapest in 2016 was established with the aim of promoting German contemporary art in Hungary and Eastern Europe and further strengthening German-Hungarian cultural relations.
The Fund chooses artworks based on the selection of artists presented by German participants at Art Market Budapest annually, and then donates them to a public collection or institution in Budapest, enabling the Hungarian audience to further enjoy the German artworks.
In the first year Andrássy University Budapest was chosen as the beneficiary institution to receive the artworks.
